The SAGA Within...

23 years ago, Proton launched their 1st generation of Proton Saga. Now, the 2nd generation of Proton Saga was revealed (what!? after 23 years!?) and poses a great competition to the cars of its class! Although this new Saga is built on the Proton Savvy's platform, however, the new Saga's platform was stretched, creating a more bigger cabin space compared to Savvy.

As you can see, the corporate logo of Proton had changed its colour to chrome and black rather than in colour. A step to make the logo looks more classy?

The exterior design of this new Saga is just ok for me. Some might say that it looks 90's but the rear does remind me of the old Mercedes C-Class! The front look is quite sporty too......

The interior. Hmm... quality, fit and finishing looks ok. As usual, the plastic is not the good quality one but what can we expect from a car which is priced at RM30k - RM40k? Nice silver interior door opening and rear door cup holder but the steering looks huge! The steering blocked some of the view to the instrument panel.

The space. It's the most important factor for me in a car because i'm quite tall and some car are quite cramped for me. I'm 180cm tall and as you can see, i fit nicely at the back seat. :) The tall roof line made the Saga's legroom more than the Persona and the headroom is average. I still prefer Myvi as it's wider, taller and have more legroom than the Saga. The boot space is certainly twice the volume of the Myvi's and can accommodate shopping bags or golf bags with ease.

I'm very disappointed with its safety features. No ABS and have only 1 airbag for the most expensive version??!! But Proton want to cut cost, so we have no choice but to wait for the High-line to come (i bet it will!)......

The real Campro engine is here! With IAFM (Intake Air Fuel Module?) which doesn't have the torque dip that exist in the previous Campro engine.

The big thing is whether this new Saga is the savior of Proton or not? If the QC is strict, then it might excel. From what i see, i can predict than it will sell well like the old Saga and might snatch a lot of potential customers of Perodua Viva away because of its low price.
