SPM Result Day !

The clock is ticking. The night was silence. The fighting sound of the stray cats in the alley dominated the quiet, silent night, reminding me that this world won't go on without competition. Three months passed by swiftly and i still can't believe that it's today.
I'll be getting my SPM result today!

I was still awake till midnight because of the feeling of anxiety and nervous inside of me and thousand of thoughts about what i've been through in the past two years were running through my mind.

I turned back on my swivel chair and looked into a mirror. I saw a reflection. It's not me but it's a reflection of my past. I saw what i've been through, sacrifices that i've made and all the efforts that i've put into my studies in the past two years. After all the things that i've done, there's not way that i'm going to forgive myself if my result is bad.

I was hoping that the result which i'm about to see at 10am will be better than my trial SPM result. I was also hoping that my feeling after seeing my result won't be like the tree below, 'uprooted' and can never be healed again. It was certainly not easy for an average performer like me to fight with my 'contenders' in first class. I still remember i woke up 4 In The Morning to revise my Sejarah on SPM day!

I stepped into my secondary school (SMK PU(1)) at sharp 9.45am and i was greeted 'warmly' by a teacher. "Jangan malu-malu pulak. Masuklah!" That's what i heard from that teacher when i stop in front of the school gate because someone was blocking my way. Maybe she thought i was too shy to step into the school area. LOL!

After chatting with my beloved friends, at about 10.20am, all the ex-Form 5 students were informed to go to our classroom (2007) to get our result. After a few nerve-wrecking minutes, the result slips arrived! Then Pn. Charanjit, my EST teacher and Pn. Soh, my BC teacher took a glance at our result and they shaked their head at some moments......

From left: Pn Charanjit, Pn Soh and someone in a blue shirt.

Everyone queued up to take their result and you will not believe it if i say that with all those adrenaline pumping, for some moments i felt like i'm getting a myocardial infarction (heart attack). Even taking some pictures with my camera was such a difficult task for me because my hands were trembling greatly. As a result, some blur pictures were formed......

He is so happy when he saw his result and decided to tell his family about it.

Then it was my turn to see get my result slip. Holly cow! There's nothing extraordinary about my result because i got the same result as my trial exam, which is 6A. But what i can't believe is that i got A1 for EST (my grammer is so bad) and A2 for Moral and Chemistry (i'm quite weak in both of this subjects). It's all about luck.

The tropical raindrops are falling from the sky and some are splashing on the glass window of my room, reminding me that it's the past and i have to move on. Frankly i have to say that my result is just average but i'm satisfied with it. I'm so envy to see some of my friends who got better result than me. I do think if i work harder in the three subjects which i got 3B, i might get 9A now! But we can't turn back the time and i have to accept the truth.

My only problem is 6A are not enough for me to get a good scholarship. I'm going to burn the midnight oil in these few days so that i can find the right scholarship for my studies and make my future a better place to be. I hope there's nothing that will hinder me from studying with my friends in the same college too. Now i'm confusing as hell, and there's a hole inside of me, slowly killing me......

Congrats to Chai Hooi for her outstanding result.

I was shocked and very surprised when i heard the news about a Kedah student who obtained 21A1 and 1A2 in his SPM examination:

PUTRAJAYA: SMKA Yan student Azali Azlan has set a new record by obtaining 21 As – 20 1As and one 2A – in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
He has beaten the record set by former SMK Ulu Tiram student Nur Amalina Che Bakri who scored 17 1As in 2004.
Education director-general Datuk Alimuddin Mohd Dom said Azali was the only student who took 21 subjects.
“We encourage students to take between eight to 10 subjects but because it is an open certificate, we cannot stop students from taking more subjects if they feel they can cope,” he told reporters when announcing the SPM and Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) results at the ministry yesterday.
He said one student each took 19 and 18 subjects respectively, two took 17 and 10 took 16 subjects.
Azali, 17, who wants to study biotechnology, either in the United States or Britain, said he wanted to thank his teachers from kindergarten to secondary school.
“My success is not mine alone as I could not have done it without my parents and all my teachers,” he said.
Asked why he took so many subjects, he said he wanted to prove to himself that he could do it, adding that he had obtained 18 1As and 3 2As in the trial examination.
Azali said he performed the solat hajat and fasted during the entire examination period, adding that he had dates and drank honey for strength every day.
SMK Hwa Lian student Quek Khai Ren was the only one to score 16 1As in the examination.
“I am hoping to obtain a scholarship; that’s why I did 16 subjects because I want to stand out from the rest who usually do 10 or 11 subjects,” he said.
Quek, who wants to study either engineering or actuarial science, said he did not want to burden his parents as he had three younger siblings.
Alimuddin said 189 special students out of 355 managed to obtain an SPM certificate.
“The best special student (blind category) is Loh Wei Siong from SMK Batu Lintang in Kuching who scored six 1As and two 2As,” he said.
