Valentine's...

... Day falls exactly on today. Imagining couples spending time together make the singles envy.

A small, wonderful part of the lyric of the song Valentine by Martina McBride which you can say to your love one:

and even if the sun refused to shine
even if romance ran out of rhyme
you would still have my heart until the end of time
'cause all I need is you my valentine
you're all I need, my love, my valentine

Stay in the house with nothing to do other than online, my life is currently utterly boring. But my free time gave me some inspiration to become an author. It's not a love story (well, a small part is):

“The window was ajar.” Mary said. “Let’s peek and see whether she’s around or not.”
Nate nodded. “Duh...”
Mary and Nate took a glimpse through the gap of the window of a house to check whether their friend is available or not. In the end, they could not see anything, as it was in middle of the night with no light illuminating the house’s pitch-black interior.
Mary then took out a hairpin from her pocket and stuck it into the doorknob, acted like a professional spy or burglar in movies, trying to unlock the door. After few tries, her effort was in vain.
“The door is not locked, smarty” Nate said after he opened the front door by just turning the doorknob. He slowly pushed the door open and it creaked, just like some scenes of a spine-chilling movie.

“Something fishy is going on around here.” Mary said.
“Ya. The whole house is dark without a light and the door is not locked too.” Nate said.
“Let’s go inside to check out Silvia. You first! It’s dark and quiet in there.”
“Haha! All right. Since I’m the man here…”

They entered slowly and light-footed. The dauntless Nate walked in front of Mary through the living room and arrived in the dining room. Suddenly, foul smell filled the air in the house. They saw Silvia’s dog, dead and lying in a corner of the dining room with its blood splattered around it and wounds on its body. Flies were flying around it and it was a disturbing and gruesome scene to both of them.

“Oh my effing God! Who did such a thing to Lucky?” Mary said, in hysteria.
“I… I have no idea. Let’s go upstairs to find Silvia. If she’s not here then we are out of here! This creeps me out!” Nate said.
“Look who’s the man now.” Mary murmured.
They headed upstairs swiftly, but still quietly. Their efforts in finding Silvia proved futile.
“Shh… I think I heard something. It’s coming from the attic!” Nate said.

They headed up to the attic, opened the attic’s door and found Silvia sitting on a chair, with a rope tying her to the chair and tapes shutting her mouth. They ran towards Silvia so that they can free her. But suddenly, a loud ‘thud’ of a door closing sound was heard and it came from downstairs! Nate quickly untied her and removed the tapes off her mouth.

“Help me…” Silvia said in a terrified tone. “Someone was trying to… Look out!”
An unidentified man suddenly appeared in the darkness and wanted to stab Nate from the back. He evaded successfully and fought him back, trying to stall the man as long as possible for the girls to leave the house. “Run!” He told them.
Mary and Silvia ran downstairs and out of the house, yelling for help while Nate was still inside the attic with the attacker. Silvia dialed 911 right away while Mary pray for Nate so that he would be safe. After a moment of pin-drop silence, the unidentified man and Nate grabbed each other and fell down together through the attic’s window!

The siren from the cops’ car and ambulance can be heard from few blocks away. A lot of neighbours were awake upon hearing the commotion. Mary and Silvia ran towards Nate and saw both of them fell into an unconscious state. Blood was oozing out from his head because he fell head first onto the solid ground below.

The cops arrived and took the man into custody. He turns out to be Silvia father’s ex-employee, who was in his late forties, fired and now seek revenge. Silvia’s dog was killed by that man with a knife because her dog barked at him when it saw an intruder.
Instead of finding Silvia’s father in the house, who went for a trip with Silvia’s mother to Paris, he found Silvia alone in the house and planned to get some ransom from her parents by kidnapping her.

Nate regained consciousness and was taken into the ambulance, and on his way to the hospital together with Mary and Silvia with few paramedics standing by.
“Just in case I couldn’t make it…” Nate said with a weak voice to Mary. “I just want you to know that I… I love you.”
Mary nodded with tears running down her cheeks. Nate’s pulse was getting weaker and weaker.
“We need a crash cart here!” A paramedic said. “Clear…”

Happy Valentine's Day! :)
