Honda Brio - the eco-car!

Honda Thailand has unveiled the company's newest product line-up, the Honda Brio. Slotted under the Honda Jazz, the A-segment Brio is 3,610mm long, 1,680mm wide, 1,485mm in height and a wheelbase of 2345mm. By comparing it to Hyundai i10, the Brio is 45mm longer, 85mm wider but 65mm lower and 35mm shorter wheelbase.


The Brio is powered by an i-VTEC four-cylinder 1.2litre SOHC engine, producing 90bhp at 6,000rpm and is able to provide a fuel economy of 20km/litre. This is an amazing figure and no doubt why Honda called the Brio as an eco car.

Being a 'budget' Honda's city car, the Brio has clues of cost-cutting development. One-piece rear hatch door made of glass to save cost (but also reduces weight) and a cabin which is made up of mostly plastic.


However, the design of the cabin does not reflect the cheap price it is selling at. The comtemporary design of the 2-tone colour dashboard looks as nice as some cars few classes about it.

The safety spec is generous for Thailand spec Honda Brio. It has dual front airbags, ABS & EBD as standard for all 3 variants of Brio. I guess when the Brio reached Malaysia, we will be getting different specs with different level of safety features.
