The monster of beauty had arrived - the 2+2 coupe Peugeot RCZ! It looks so much sportier than the 207CC or the 308CC, and I like the chromed A-pillar that flows all the way to the back. The RCZ is priced at RM218,888 for the 156bhp automatic and RM223,888 for the 200bhp manual (OTR prices with insurance). The manual version of RCZ can perform 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds while the auto RCZ need 8.4 seconds to acheive 100km/h. Top speed is 237 km/h for the manual and 213 km/h for the auto.
So, what's the difference between automatic and manual transmission RCZ? While both are powered by turbocharged and direct-injected 1.6litre engine, the manual gets 200bhp out of the powerplant together with variable valve lift over the standard VVT. Other than that, larger 340 mm brake discs (from 302 mm), a smaller diameter steering wheel, larger cluster display, a lower anti collision bar and special hub carriers for sharper handling and enhanced engine acoustics over the automatic's engine are found in the manual version.
Another premium interior from Peugeot. I always love the plush interior of Peugeot(s). Soft materials, thickly padded seats and smooth dashboard and steering wheel were so nice to the touch, and I bet the RCZ does not differ much too!
The most distinctive feature of the RCZ is its double bubble glass roof! Designed as 2 'humps' on the glass roof, it serves as the purpose of providing more headroom to its rear passengers. Moreover, the RCZ also gets an active bonnet system with a pyrotechnic system that raises the bonnet’s hinges by 55mm in 0.1 second during a frontal collision to provide pedestrian protection.
