Proton Saga 1.6 IAFM launched!

Selling at RM46, 549, the Proton Saga FL 1.6 is priced with just a premium of RM3k over the top spec 1.3! The 1.6 Campro IAFM engine with 4 speed automatic transmission, which has the capability of producing 110bhp, similar to a 1.6litre Persona, promises smooth and powerful delivery with good fuel efficiency. I hope this is true because many owners of the pre-Saga FL complained that the 1.3litre Saga has low fuel economy.


Minor changes are applied to the exterior of the 1.6 Saga FL. New 8 spokes alloy wheels and racing-like body sticker are added, while dark chrome finishing is added to various position of the cabin like air-cond outlet, steering wheel, centre and door panel. Standard safety equipment include dual SRS airbags.


I don't get few things though: the 1.6 Saga FL is only available in Solid White colour, and why satisfy the consumers' performance need by intorducing a more powerful 1.6litre engine while the safety is not improved? Although a passenger side airbag is added for the Saga FL 1.6, ABS and EBD are left out this time.


Meanwhile, Proton Persona has an additional colour too, the same Solid White found in Proton Saga FL 1.6. Pricing for the Persona are RM59,049 for the High Line (automatic), RM55,549 for the Medium Line (automatic) and RM52,549 for the Medium Line (manual).
