Introducing new Toyota Innova !

I said 'new', not 'all-new'. Toyota had once again updated its Innova, which is one of the three IMV models which were launched to the market about 7 years ago. Recently, Toyota Hilux and Toyota Fortuner were given a facelift and last but not least, the Toyota Innova too.

The 8-seater Innova (yes, it's a 8-seater due to its large cabin) has a new face, now looks more like a Camry, which gave the Innova a bolder front look. New taillights cluster and name-embedded chrome are some of the changes for the rear. All these design modifications were crucial to give the Innova a fresher appeal, but somehow the changes were done with the word 'conservative' in the mind.

The Toyota Innova still uses the same powerplant as the pre-facelift Innova, which is the 1TR-FE 2.0liter engine with 136bhp at 5,600rpm and 182Nm at 4,000rpm.

The revised interior features a new steering from Camry and a new center console. The new, contemporary looking steering wheel fits the cabin, but I would say that the dark wood trim is not. The new centre console looks like an afterthought too, but perhaps seeing it in real life might not be as bad as what I can see now through the picture.

Only the Innova 2.0G gets the multi-info display which shows us various info; average fuel consumption, the range available on the remaining amount of fuel in the tank, average speed, compass etc. The 2.0G also is the only variant that has Dual SRS airbags while the remaining two 2.0E variants has only one airbag. Toyota shouldn't sacrifice the safety to lower down the price, especially that Innova is a family vehicle. Thankfully, all variants has ABS.

The Innova 2.0E with manual transmission is priced at RM97,500, the 2.0E automatic at RM102,500 and the top-of-the-line 2.0G automatic at RM110,600.
