4th-gen Honda CR-V launched in Malaysia !

Honda CR-V is one of the best selling small SUVs in Malaysia and now, the all-new 4th generation CR-V is launched! While the styling has been improved (and look great in blue), I can't help but to notice there are some hints of Volvo XC60 near the taillights area. CR-V sticks to real time 4wd that alters the power transmission from the front to back depending on driving condition, unlike some new SUVs which are only available in 4x2 mode to save cost and weight.

Visually the CR-V look so huge that it can fit in 3 rows of seats, but dimension wise it's pretty much similar to its predecessor. Length is 4545mm (-20mm), 1820mm for width, 1685mm (+5mm) for height and 2620mm for wheelbase. Boot space is measured at 589 litres and is expandable to 1648 litres. It is powered by the same powerplant found in Civic 2.0, a SOHC i-VTEC engine which produces 155 PS (5 PS more than previous engine) at 6500rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 4300rpm. 0-100km/h in 12.7 seconds and top speed is 187 km/h, not exactly what we call fast but SUV is not intended to be a performance car in the first place.

From what we can see the cabin has improved visually. It looks more upmarket with a five inch colour LCD screen located at the top part of the dashboard, where you can see the reverse view with it (reverse camera is standard) and along with other functions.  A green ECON button is also available to maximise efficiency as well as Eco Assist which changes the illumination ring colour according to the driving style.

Some standard features are dual zone air conditioning, rear air-cond vents and cruise control, audio system comes with 6-speaker, USB but without Bluetooth function.

In the safety department, the all-new CR-V comes with 4 airbags (2 front, 2 side), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with integrated traction control and hill-start assist, ABS, EBD, Follow-me-home lighting and ISOFix as standard. A huge improvement if compared to the time where the 3rd generation CR-V is launched.

Best of all, Honda Malaysia is offering a 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage and the service interval is now 10,000km to reduce maintenance cost. Buyers are entitled for 6 free labour alternated with paid service, which means the first service is free, next is paid, then the next is free again, so on and so forth. Pricing wise, RM148,800 OTR with insurance, RM1k cheaper than the previous CR-V but with more value for money.
