Lamborghini Veneno - Only 3 will be sold !

Lamborghini's latest product is called Veneno! Named after a... Pokemon perhaps. The name Veneno doesn't help in giving a mean impression by sounding too close to stuff like Lenovo (laptop), Veneto (a city) or even Cornetto (ice cream). Name aside, one can assure that Veneno (it's actually named after a fighting bull) is not a machine that you should joke at, where the seriousness starts with its styling.

 If you thought Lamborghini has cramped enough lines into the design of the Aventador, think again. More lines that are sharper than ever are used in shaping the Veneno. Looking at the Veneno from a top view would be the best way to admire the beauty of this mean machine.

 Performance wise, the 750bhp road legal hypercar has a 6.5 litres V12 engine which produces 50 bhp more than Aventador. Mated with a 7-speed ISR single clutch sequential gearbox and AWD system, the 1450kg Veneno is capable to propel from 0-100km/h in just 2.8 seconds and with a top speed of 355km/h!

Lamborghini patented materials, Forged Composite is found on the two lightweight bucket seats and CarbonSkin is cladded around the cabin.

As the title suggested, only 3 Venenos will make it into production, with each priced at €3 million! Even if you can afford one, unfortunately, all of them are sold. Guess you'll have to wait for another 50 years since the Venenos are built exclusively for Lamborghini 50th anniversary!

Weight distribution of a car's chassis

First of all, let me explain what it means by a car's chassis. The chassis (usually made of steel) consists of the frame and mechanicals like engine, transmission and suspension. There are many types of chassis available in the market such as ladder frame, lightweight (Superleggera) frame, monocoque frame, so on and so forth.

A well weighted distribution of weight between the two axles can benefits the handling, stability, traction and acceleration of the car. Meanwhile, if a car’s chassis doesn’t have a well balanced weight distribution, the car can easily experience oversteer and understeer. Let’s say if the rear of a car doesn’t have enough weight, then the grip of the rear wheels will be reduced, so the car will tend to have oversteer where the rear wheels lose their traction. Therefore, it is said ideal if the weight distribution between the front and rear axle is distributed as equal as possible.

Maybe that's why BMW has been so consistent in offering 50:50 weight distribution for its products. Notice the overly long space between the front tyres and the front door of the BMWs? It is designed like that to have a better weight distribution on the chassis and for the optimum engine location for good weight distribution. 

However, it's a different condition for a sports car. Many sports car manufacturers such as Porsche prefer to have rear weight bias, where some of the reasons are to have better corner entry and corner exit as well as better braking. Having more weight at the back (especially with rear engine placement) can benefit better braking where the rear tyres can be braked more efficiently instead of transferring all the weight to the front tyres and brakes while braking.

Lamborghini Gallardo Malaysia Limited Edition

We have another limited edition of cars arrived at our shores. Not your usual unlimited special or limited edition of your Myvi or Saga, but this time it involves the raging bull of Lamborghini, in the form of the Gallardo. In fact, it is oddely named as the Gallardo Malaysia Limited Edition.

The 20 unit only limited edition is a product of a year-long collaboration between Lamborghini KL and Automobili Lamborghini SpA. So what they did was they picked some Gallardo LP550-2 fitted with the racy and aggressive bodykit from LP570-4 Superleggera. This rear wheel drive beast (based on LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni) contains the aggressive front bumper, carbon side skirts, titanium exhaust tips and a carbon-fibre rear diffuser frm the Superleggera but interior wise is similiar with the standard Gallardo.

It remains the LP550-2′s V10 engine which has 550 hp and 540 Nm, and good enough to bring decent 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 320 kmh. Available on three colours Bianco Monocerus (solid white), Verde Ithaca (pearl green) and Arancio Borealis (pearl orange) and priced at RM1,680,000 (OTR excluding insurance) with three years of manufacturer warranty. Mind you it is only RM868,000 before taxes, so there a testiment that cars in Malaysia is crazily taxed!

Honestly, is this clearing the remaining Gallardo by Lambo?

For those who complained Lamborghini has crafted the limited edition Gallardo for Singapore, one must say our Italian friends must have listened our complains well. But since the Gallardo was launched in 2003 and Lamborghini cars usually will be replaced after 10 years the model was launched, a replacement is expected by at least next year. If Wikipedia sources were true, it will be named as the Cabrera and it may look like a mini Avendator. So I can’t help it to think this is merely an exercise by Lamborghini to clear the unsold stock of the LP 550-2 to us.

But for goodness shake, be thankful no “1Malaysia” emblem can be found in this car.

Lamborghini Aventador J - Topless !

The 'J' for the Aventador does not represent an entry level variant like for the Vios 'J'. Instead, it's a revolution of Aventador, where now it comes without a roof. Yes, a roadster! Here's the catch, Lamborghini will only build one Aventador J and is willing to sell it to you!

Eventhough now the Aventador J comes with lesser weight, it gains more character and sportiness while retaining the angular lines all over the exterior. The roof and windscreen received the Sawzall treatment, where small wind reflector is fitted to give it a two-seat sport bike effect.



It's amazing to know how far a supercar manufacturers will go just to reduce the weight of their cars. The seats and interior trim of the Aventador J are fitted with a new carbon fibre fabric called 'Carbonskin'. They are nice to touch and most important of all, reduces the car's overall weight.


The Aventador J comes with the same powertrain found in the standard Aventador. A 700hp 6.5liter 12-cylinder engine is mated with an all-wheel-drive system enables the Aventador J to achieve the speed of over 300kph (186 mph). The driver and passenger better have their helmet ready!

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4: Reventon's brother!

There are two things that Lamborghini always fascinated me about: Design and name. There's no doubt that Lamborghini had been producing supercars with superb styling (those lines on Lambo are so sharp, they can cut!). But why name? Let me explain. From Murcièlago to the newest in the lineup, the Aventador, Lamborghini's names are complicated to read. But also at the same time, sounds unique and easy to be recalled.

Taking some styling cues from its brother, the Reventon, the Aventador looks as good as Reventon, if not better. Featuring some pentagon and hexagon shapes on the body, the Aventador looks angular but rugged and sporty at the same time! According to Lamborghini, the three-section chassis, cabin structure, V12 engine and transmission is all new to the company, apart from some carryover Murcièlago nuts and bolts.

Under the hood awesomely designed engine cover is a V12, 6.5cc engine capable of producing 691bhp! Mated with it is the 7-speed ISR transmission. The Aventador's one-piece passenger cell is made entirely of a new-generation reinforced carbon fiber and it only weighs 147kg, and its total dry weight is 1575kg. All of these factors contributed to its super-fast acceleration of 2.8 seconds from knot to 100km/h, also with the help of Launch Control which minimised wheel spin at the start of acceleration. Top speed is 350km/h.

Aventador, the name of one of the most courageous bull of all bulls, is 4780mm long, 2260mm wide including the exterior mirrors, and an extremely low height of just 1136 mm. The hexagon-ish design element is brought into the cabin from the exterior. This to me is the best interior designed by Lamborghini to date. It looks modern, youthful and sporty! The Aventador no doubt is an amazing piece of art...
