Artsphere @ The Atmosphere, Seri Kembangan !

The Atmosphere located in Seri Kembangan is not your ordinary shopping area. It's unique not only because it will soon be occupied with dozens of retail stores and cafes, but there are also many interactive 3D murals drawn within the precinct of The Atmosphere! This makes your shopping experience even more fun! 

There are 80 mural arts situated at every corner of The Atmosphere, 80 of them!!! All drawn by 20 talented  international and local artists.

I was pretty excited to visit Artsphere at The Atmosphere as I have never seen a mural before. *jakun* We were greeted by this cut-in-half Mini car nearby the grand entrance of The Atmosphere. Everyone was gathering nearby hyping about it, mesmerised with its beauty.

After the ceremony, members of the media were invited to join a tour around The Atmosphere. Thus, we had a great chance to explore the murals! Below is 'Jatuh la Jatuh' by Ms. Haze Long!

It's a great experience to see so many murals from up close since I haven't had the chance to travel up North (Penang) or down South (Johor) to check out their famous local murals. There were too many murals at The Atmosphere and unfortunately I missed some of them. No doubt I'll pay it another visit in the near future soon! Let's go to The Atmosphere and have fun with all those interactive murals, and most importantly, take lots of photos with them!!!

The top 5 most common types of cancer in Malaysia !

Let's take a break from the usual automotive news and take a look at the top 5 most common types of cancer in Malaysia!

AXA AFFIN recently collaborated with National Cancer Service Malaysia (NCSM) in a project to support cancer patients currently undergoing chemotherapy in this campaign. AXA AFFIN will fund the cost for usage of NCSM Treatment Centre to one cancer patients for every blogger that links back to AXA AFFIN 110CancerCare website in their effort to care for cancer patients. Let's support this!

Recent statistic has shown that one in four Malaysians will develop cancer by the age of 75 years old. And do you know that there are more than 200 different types of cancer? You can literally develop cancer in any body organ.

According to NCSM, here are the 5 most common type of cancer affecting Malaysians:

Breast Cancer

This is the most common cancer affecting women. There are about 4,000 women who are diagnosed with breast cancer in Malaysia each year. Although rare, men can develop breast cancer as well.  Women, do perform self-checking at least once per month in order to detect it so that you can treat it in an early stage!

Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer is the second most common type of cancer in Malaysia. About 2,900 Malaysians are affected by this each year. Also known as bowel cancer, it is more common in people above 50 years old. Colorectal cancer can develop from the inner bowel lining or from poly (a small raised area), while polyps are mostly harmless, they can become malignant.

Lung Cancer

With 2,100 Malaysians being diagnosed with lung cancer each year, this is the third most common type of cancer in our country. Statistics have shown that more than 90% of lung cancer patients are associated to smoking. Second hand smokers are also very much at risked of lung cancer, so even if you are not a habitual smoker yourself, you can still be very much at risk if people around you are!

Cervical Cancer

It is the third most common type of cancer among Malaysians, and the risk of having it increases after 30 years old. About 1,100 women are diagnosed with cervival cancer each year,  this amounts to 11% of all cancer in women. Human Papillomavirus(HPV) infection and smoking can cause cervical cancer.  HPV infection shows no symptoms, which is why ladies should go for periodic cancer screening. Early detection and prevention might just save your life.

Nasopharyngeal Cancer

Affecting about 1,000 Malaysians each year, this is the fifth most common type of cancer in our country. Similar to the rest, this is more common in people aged 55 and above, is the third most common cancer in men aged 15-49 years old. About 90% of NPC patients will develop a lump in the neck, which is a swollen lymph node penetrated by cancer cells. So do not take it lightly when you see yourself having this symptom.

My try on 'pimping' a toy car!

After learning that a friend of mine, Chris owns a 12 years old Proton Saga, I believe that his car should be pimped! After 12 years, Chris' Saga doesn't stand well to the test of time, thus a refurbishment is always a wish for him. Every teenager (including me and Chris) dream of owning a sporty car that grabs attention like the Honda Civic, but of course, we as students can't afford it. Driving Chris' stock Saga into college doesn't make a huge impression to passerby or college students, thus he needs something EXTRAORDINARY to impress, especially the girls!

First, Chris' Saga totally needs a repaint job! Next, alloy wheels! 16-inch, multi-spoke rims would be perfect for a Saga! It's not considered as pimping a car if it's without bodykits! Underbody front, side (with LEDs shining down onto the road!) and rear skirts are needed, as well as a rear spoiler! *greedy* What else? Black tinted windows, chrome door handles and the list goes on!

A turbocharger is needed for the aged engine to haul the heavy chassis of the Saga. This is because certain amount of engine power is lost as it ages, and automatic transmission doesn't help much either!

It would be best if the whole interior can be redesigned! But for now, we'll go for the practical ones. What needed are a sportier designed leather-wrapped steering wheel with flat bottom design, black leather bucket seats with RED STITCHES, instrument panel with red background lighting and definitely a better looking gear knob! A built-in GPS would be great, or make-do with a standalone GPS unit too!

No ride is fun without an exquisite stereo sound system! Since Saga is a sedan with a proper boot, I'm sure that Chris wouldn't mind to sacrifice a small amount of boot space for a whole-new stereo system!

But then, all we can do now is to hope that Chris' car will be chosen to be pimped by Xpax, or maybe by painting a Mini Cooper toy car while waiting!

The Need for Speed – the Michelin Pilot Experience

Vroooom!!! Nuffnang and Michelin is giving out a once-in-a-lifetime experience to two lucky bloggers! To show you how passionate I am about cars, let's me tell you my story starting from the old days...

I used to spend a lot of time sketching during my secondary school time. After getting inspirations from cars on the road, I'll sketch them on paper by imagining how I want them to be (meaning the cars I drew are totally redesigned by me!). A side view like the one below can take me an hour or even more!

After getting into college, the 'production rate' of my sketches has been gradually decreasing. This is because I found a great way to convey my thoughts on cars - via blogging. Yup, that's right. It's the blog that you are reading now! Founded in 2008, it started as a personal blog but thanks to my growing interest in cars, I've turned this blog into an automotive blog. Latest automotive news, my first impression on new cars in the showroom and even test drive reviews are posted here.

An issue per month, keeps the addiction at bay. Car addiction, that is! I'll purchase car magazines monthly so that I'll be up-to-date with the latest car news around the world as well as to improve my writing skills. After reading the magazines, I will store them nicely on the shelf. If you are a car buff, you'll know that I've kept the magazine at the center (with a 2002 Toyota Camry on the cover) for a decade!

Currently I'm driving the family's trusty little black horse. It will be pampered with car wash weekly by me, thus explains the glossy paintjob *flicks hair*. It has a 1.8litre engine which produces 136bhp at 6000rpm and 173Nm of...... Ok, sometimes I can be a little carried away when it comes to talking about cars. I can talk about cars for the whole day!

It would be great if my car is fitted with Michelin tyres. Michelin tyres are famous as high performance tyre that provides outstanding road holding ability, no matter dry or wet. No wonder plenty performance cars or high-end luxury cars are using Michelin, including my uncle's Mercedes!

So Michelin and Nuffnang, give me a chance to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event, pretty please?

Of Birthday, Setiawalk & Nuffnang's Cheque !

 For the first time in a long time, I'm going to blog about something happened my life! Let's take a short hiatus from the usual automotive stuff, shall we? As you can see, yours truly had celebrated his 21st birthday on the very first day of July! It marks great things to come in July I guess :-)

Celebrated my birthday with my family in Setiawalk, Puchong. It's still considered new in town where many of the shops are still vacant. At that moment, I spotted Wong Kok Restaurant, Ding Tea, Share Tea, Bee Cheng Hiang, Starbucks, Beer Factory etc. It's a serene and calm area with beautiful decorations and a 'river' flowing in between two blocks of shops. Perfect for photoshooting! There's even a small wading pool for the kids to have a splash in the water!

The next day, my collegemates decided to celebrate my birthday in BBQ Plaza, Times Square! I really appreciate their efforts in arranging this event for me, a thousand thanks and gratitude to them! It was a night to remember :-)

The greatest birthday present would be from Nuffnang - my 4th cheque! All my hard work in blogging paid off (of course it's not all about money, as passion also accounted as a huge factor in blogging!) and the cheque arrived just in time as my funding for my final year project. Thanks again to Nuffnang for the great opportunities and hope for more great things to come!

Relive Your Moments With Sam Hui

 I grew up literally listening to Sam Hui's song! All thanks to my parents who love to listen to his songs whenever they are resting in home or when we were in our balik kampung trip. Eventhough I'm still young, at 21 years old this year, I find Sam Hui's songs touching and fun to listen as well!

Great news for my parents and also for Sam Hui's fans out there! Sam Hui is coming to Genting for a concert on 26 May 2012!

I really want to win some tickets from Genting so that I can give them to my parents as Father and Mother's Day present! To prove I'm worthy of it, let me embarrass myself portray one of Sam Hui's song title:
