Refreshed 2014 Kia Sorento

Kia has been well accepted in Malaysia's automotive market recently, especially with its Forte, Sportage, Optima K5 as well as Sorento. Kia has unveiled the facelifted Sorento, featuring a new front fascia redesigned 19-inch alloy rims, new rear end and some changes to its centre stack and instrument panel. Ride and handling are also improved, Kia claimed.

I always have the impressive of 'bulky' for the pre-facelift Sorento. No, it's not because of its size but because of its design. The front bumper side air intakes are a little huge, the taillights are crowded with LEDs which are bright enough to illuminate a stadium, things like that.

However, I'm glad to see improvement in the facelifted Sorento. It has more elegant looking headlights with LED positioning lights, a sportier looking alloy rims design and thankfully, a sharper and slimmer looking taillights design. The redesigned taillights and rear bumper definitely gave the Sorento a sportier characteristic from the rear, as well as visual balance.

Currently Malaysia's Sorento is using a 2.4 litre petrol engine which is capable to produce 174 hp @ 6000rpm and 266Nm of torque @ 3750rpm. While other countries are using an enhanced powertrain, we shouldn't rule out the possibility that the facelifted Sorento will be using the existing engine when it arrives in Malaysia.
