Volkswagen Beetle 2.0 TSI - RM219,888

After the debut of Volkswagen Beetle 1.4 TSI in the Volkswagen Das Auto KL 2012 event on September, the Beetle 2.0 TSI took almost 3 months to reach our shore. Launched in Malaysia with a price tag of RM219,888 without insurance, the Beetle 1.4 TSI is RM80k more expensive than the 2.0 TSI. Other than the different engine used in the Beetle 2.0 TSI, there are more changes lie under the skin (and of course, changes also applied to the 'skin' itself).

Changes include 'Sport Line' package trim where twin chrome exhaust pipes, red brake calipers, aluminium pedals, Extended Electronic Differential Locks, body-coloured rear diffuser as well as four-link rear suspension to improve handling. A different 18-inch alloy wheels design, bi-xenon headlight with daytime running LEDs and panoramic sunroof are also standard for the 2.0 TSI.

The engine, paired with a 6-speed DSG gearbox, produces 200PS, which is able to propel the car from 0-100km/h in 7.5 seconds. The cabin is standard with two-zone auto air-conditioning, cruise control and a RCD 510 touchscreen audio system with 6-disc CD changer. Dual front airbags as well as combined thorax and head airbags for the front occupants are standard too.

With a 2.0 TSI engine, the Beetle shouldn't be called as a beetle anymore. It should be named with something that moves faster than a beetle...
