SPIED: Proton Exora Panel Van !

(Perhaps) Proton is following Nissan's footstep by planning to introduce a panel van based on its MPV, the Exora. Funtasticko Design has published a spyshot of the Exora panel van captured by one of its readers around Shah Alam. If the Exora panel van is going to be produced, it will go head-to-head with the Nissan NV200 Vanette and probably with the smaller Daihatsu Grand Max panel van.

Below is the enlarged version of the above. Not sure if the production version of Exora panel van will get the coloured front and rear bumpers as well as the alloy wheels carried over from normal Exora. To lower down the cost, the engine is expected to get the 1.6litre CPS (without turbo) which produces 125bhp and 150Nm. The Nissan NV200 Vanette churns out 108bhp and 152Nm.

Safety wise, Nissan is offering driver airbag, ABS and EBD as standard for its NV200 Vanette. If Proton adheres to the UN ECE R94 safety regulation which is implemented recently, the Exora panel van has to be fitted with Dual front SRS airbags. We'll just have to wait and see how things are set for the Exora panel van. As a panel van, the price of this Exora panel van is expected to be lower than the currently cheapest variant of Exora, which is priced at RM59,562. Around RM50k maybe? As a comparison, the Nissan NV200 Vanette is available at RM62,047 while the semi panel NV200 (5-seater) comes at RM70,900.
