Carsifu: Hyundai Veloster To Be Launched in Malaysia Soon

I've spotted the Hyundai Veloster in a renowned shopping complex in Klang Valley last month, thus, it hinted that the Veloster is going to have its debut soon in Malaysia. In fact, Hyundai Veloster is scheduled to be launched in Malaysia on sometimes next month. It is a more affordable alternative to the greatly acclaimed Volkswagen Scirocco, roughly the size of a Honda CR-Z, and comes with a lot of features for a car of its price.

The attractive 'fluidic sculpture' design language gives distinctive character lines, window line and muscular wheel arches. The 6-LED decorated projection headlights, hexagon front grille, hood scoop and panaromic sunroof gives the Veloster an agressive front end design.

Hyundai Veloster, which is a 2+1 coupe, is rumoured to an estimated price of RM119k. Why 2+1? While the Veloster is designed to be a 2-door performance hatch, a small rear passenger door is added to improve the practicality of the car. No fret that it will affect the overall sportiness of the Veloster because Hyundai has done well in making the extra rear door as 'shealth' as possible with the door handle well hidden in the window area. The wraparound windscreen with blacken A-pillar is also a nice touch, something like a motorcycle helmet visor is created.

We can expect that Hyundai Veloster to carry a 1.6 litres Gamma II engine which churns out 130PS and 157Nm of torque at 4850rpm, mated to either a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission. The rear seats are claimed to be spacious for a car of its segment and the boot is measured at 440 litres, which will put even some sedan to shame.

The Hyundai Veloster is fitted with a McPherson strut front suspension and a 24mm diameter front stabilizer while the rear suspension is a light-weight V-torsion beam integrated with a 23mm stabilizer bar for better body control, handling and comfort. Safety wise, we have to wait for the official specification to be certain on which features will make it into the Veloster for our market.
